The unity in our community was a joy to see at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Pasta Dinner on June 13. Our group from the Niagara Health Expo joined many other community organizations and supporters to applaud a cheque presentation by the Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation.  The Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre received the Foundation’s annual donation of $662,041. The funds will go to the hospital’s 2018-2019 equipment and programming needs.

Funds were generated through partnerships with service clubs, community groups and associations across Niagara, third-party fundraisers, major corporate and private donations, and yearly events the Foundation hosts. Most important, the Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation is responsible for fundraising for all necessary patient related equipment needs, upgrading patient care areas, and funding two specialty programs run at the hospital.

More than 430 patrons attended the sold out dinner at Club Roma in St. Catharines. This record-setting attendance set the stage for success at the 6th annual event to date.

Patrons purchased tickets for a chance to win a $500 Pen Centre Shopping Spree, 32 inch Smart TV, Keg Dinner and Movie Night for 4, or other prizes. A silent auction created a buzz for bidders winning awesome items.

As a result of great ticket sales, silent auction and a raffle over $12,000 was raised at the event, which will support patient care equipment at HDS.

We enjoyed a fine Italian-style dinner featuring Antipasto Platters, Penne in Tomato Sauce, Meatballs and Sausage, Rolls, Salad and Tartufu dessert.

Besides the fundraising activities, the Niagara Health Expo group also enjoyed networking with local supporters of the local health and wellness community.  Pictured above, James Symons, Permod Goyal, Paul Carfagnini (Expo Producer) & Marilyn Tian (Business Link Media Group), seated Cindy Bekkedam & Leah Mete, Registered Dieticians at Zehrs. We also connected with Dianne Henderson from Gluckstein Lawyers ( Expo Sponsor) and HDS Foundation member.
